What is QFD / House of Quality?
Customer Requirements (WHATs)
The left side lists what the customer wants. Each requirement gets an importance rating (1-5) reflecting how much it matters to the customer.
Product Characteristics (HOWs)
The top columns describe measurable engineering characteristics that can address the customer requirements. These are what engineers can control.
Relationship Matrix
The center matrix maps HOWs to WHATs. Click cells to cycle through: ● Strong (9), ○ Medium (3), ▽ Weak (1), or empty (0).
Correlation Roof
The triangular roof shows how product characteristics interact with each other. ++ Strong positive, + Positive, − Negative, −− Strong negative.
Competitor Analysis
The right side benchmarks your product against competitors on each customer requirement (1-5 scale). Helps identify opportunities.
Technical Importance
The bottom rows auto-calculate: Absolute Weight = Σ(importance × relationship) and Relative Weight % shows priority ranking.
